What This Medication Is Used For
NexGard Combo is a prescription topical medication for cats. It is indicated for cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older, under veterinary direction.
Conditions it treats:
• Fleas
• Certain ticks, including blacklegged ticks and lone star ticks
• Ear mites
• Heartworm disease prevention
• Certain intestinal worms, including roundworms and tapeworms
Typical symptoms before treatment:
• Scratching, skin irritation, or flea dirt in the coat
• Visible ticks on the skin after outdoor exposure
• Head shaking or dark ear debris with ear mite infestations
• Worm segments in stool or around the tail area, in some cases
When veterinarians commonly prescribe it:
• When your cat needs coverage for more than one parasite group at the same time
• When your cat goes outdoors, lives with other pets, or has frequent exposure risks
• one topical plan to support ongoing parasite control is desired
How It Works
NexGard Combo contains three active ingredients that target different parasites.Damages the nervous system of parasites causing paralysis and death and weakens the outer skin of worms to allow the immune system to clear them . How it differs from older or alternative treatments:
Some cats need separate products for fleas, ticks, ear mites, or deworming. Your veterinarian may choose NexGard Combo when a single topical product fits the risks you are managing.
Why vets use it for ongoing management:
Parasite risk changes with season, travel, and lifestyle. Your veterinarian may recommend repeat use based on regional risk and your cat’s exposure. Cats in heartworm-endemic areas, or cats that travel to those areas, may need testing before starting heartworm prevention.
Dosage and Strength Information
Dosage and timing are determined by a veterinarian based on your cat’s weight, health history, and parasite risk. Use the dose volume that matches your cat’s weight range and do not split products across pets.
What this specific strength is generally prescribed for:
This product is labelled for cats that weigh 2.5 to 7.4 kg. It is supplied as a topical liquid in a standard package size of 6.
Availability of other strengths or sizes:
Other dose volumes may exist for cats outside this weight range. If you do not see the size you need, contact the pharmacy for options.
